B'TSELEM - The Israeli Information Center for Human Rights in the Occupied Territories was established in 1989 by a group of prominent academics, attorneys, journalists, and Knesset members. It endeavors to document and educate the Israeli public and policymakers about human rights violations in the Occupied Territories, combat the phenomenon of denial prevalent among the Israeli public, and help create a human rights culture in Israel.

Chabad of Thailand Tsunami Relief

Expanding the Universe of Obligation: Judaism, Justice and Global Responsibility is the core curriculum for AJWS service-learning programs. It serves as the educational foundation for AJWS service-learning experiences and helps deepen and enrich AJWS volunteers' time in the Global South. The participant edition includes Jewish texts and contemporary articles that explore a range of ethical issues related to volunteering in the Global South. The facilitator edition also includes lesson plans, facilitator's notes and annotations on the texts. While the texts and articles in the curriculum are geared to volunteers participating in service-learning programs in the Global South, many can be applied to a more general Jewish social justice context.

Jewish Disaster Response Corps

Currently, most, if not all, of organizations that respond to disasters are faith-based organizations. As a member of the wider faith based community, the Jewish community should be a part of the disaster response effort. As members of a religious and ethical tradition that emphasizes helping the weakest in society it is our obligation to assist those impoverished and displaced by catastrophic disasters. The current lack of a visible organized presence from the Jewish community in responding to domestic disasters is a noticeable problem, that the JDRC will rectify by creating a Jewish organization that works alongside other faith-based aid organizations in order to help communities that have been affected by disaster.

The Jewish Farm School is an environmental education organization whose mission is to practice and promote sustainable agriculture and to support food systems rooted in justice and Jewish traditions. Jewish Response to the Japanese Earthquake, Tsunami, and Nuclear Crisis

On March 11, 2011, a 9.0 earthquake struck Japan, triggering a massive tsunami that further devasted a broad stretch of the Japanese coast. In the aftermath, several nuclear reactors experienced leakages, leading to a wider humanitarian crisis.

Jewish Responses to Genocide

This text study was prepared jointly by the American Jewish World Service Education Department and students of Yeshiva University. It is designed to provide a series of entry points into conversations about the Jewish obligation to respond to the genocide in Darfur.

The text study is divided into two sections. Section One addresses the question, “What is the nature of our responsibility to prevent unjustified killing?” Section Two addresses the question, “What are the boundaries/limits of our responsibility to prevent unjustified death?”

Jewish Service-Learning: What Is and What Could Be, a Summary of an Analysis of the Jewish Service-Learning Landscape

In the fall of 2007, the Charles and Lynn Schusterman Family Foundation, the Jim Joseph Foundation and the Nathan Cummings Foundation commissioned BTW informing change (BTW) to assess the landscape of Jewish Service Learning. Joined by a shared interest to better understand the practice and potential of Jewish Service Learning, these foundations asked BTW to examine Jewish Service Learning, the current capacity among practitioners, the support required to further that capacity and the relevance of secular national service and other faith-based service traditions in defining the potential and evolution of Jewish Service Learning.
