A Statement on Jewish Education: Texts and Responses
In December 1999 the Board of Governors of the American Jewish Committee voted overwhelmingly to support a statement calling on the entire Jewish community to make Jewish education the top communal priority in the battle for Jewish continuity. We have asked a number of scholars, activists, and educators to respond to four questions about the statement and other concerns about Jewish education that the statement seeks to raise.

Building MASA: An Analysis of the U.S. Market for Long-Term Programs in Israel
A report commissioned by MASA, a program that aims to encourage Diaspora young adults to spend a semester or year in Israel as part of an Israel experience program. The report focuses on the views of young adults and their parents regarding long-term study in Israel and specific preferences regarding Israel experience programs. Views regarding MASA’s marketing strategy, as well as its incentives to encourage participation in its affiliated programs, are also examined.

Compendium of Community Marketing Initiatives
A report by the Continental Council for Jewish Day School Education based on data gathered about community efforts in day school marketing. The report covers the history of day school marketing efforts, the composition of marketing committees and the associated political relationships, funding sources and resource allocation, market research techniques, and specific plans for day school marketing projects and marketing committee development. The report covers nine North American communities and attempts to discern trends and lessons that could potentially be noteworthy to leaders beginning the process of community-based day school marketing committee formation in their own communities.

Executive Summary of Federation Research on Day School Advocacy
The Continental Council Marketing & Advocacy Working Group’s objective was to advocate for increased funding and support of Jewish day schools among the United Jewish Communities – Federation system. An underlying goal is to facilitate the strengthening of relationships and collaborations among day school supporters and Federations. In order to achieve this, the Working Group saw a need to better understand current Federation attitudes, policies, and decision-making processes. This represents a brief summary of a larger report that was presented to the PEJE Donor & Leadership Assemblies in February 2003.

Phoenix Jewish Community Day School Consortium Marketing Committee Report Summary
The Jewish Community Day School Consortium was organized in 1999/2000. The goal of the Consortium was to identify ways to enhance the climate for day school education in the Greater Phoenix Jewish Community to ensure long term stability and support for Phoenix day schools. The marketing work group was formed in 2002 and charged with the goal of identifying a comprehensive strategy ". . . to ultimately increase the total level of funding and support for Jewish day schools, and increase day school enrollment.” The work group identified five strategic marketing targets: community leadership, young Jewish adults, grandparents, “un-involveds”, non-Jewish influencers.
