DeLeT is a 14 month (two summers and a school year) program that combines academic and professional study with a year-long internship in a local day school. Small and personalized, the program prepares teachers of general and Jewish studies for grades 1-6. Students study with members of their Jewish day school cohort as well as with members of the public elementary school MAT cohort.

Program faculty and instructors include distinguished teacher educators and Judaic scholars drawn from the Brandeis Education Program, the Department of Near Eastern and Judaic Studies, and the Mandel Center for Studies in Jewish Education.

Brandeis University’s Summer Institute for Israel Studies: The First Four Years

The Brandeis University Summer Institute for Israel Studies (SIIS) has as its goal "normalizing" Israel studies within the academy-making the study of Israel a part of the curriculum of higher education. To that end, it prepares established faculty members to teach about Israel within the frameworks of their own disciplines. To date, the Institute has educated five cohorts of over 100 college and university faculty members to teach about Israel. Each year an independent evaluator has collected data from SIIS fellows about their courses and the impact of the Institute on their scholarship and teaching practice. Initiative on Bridging Scholarship and Pedagogy in Jewish Studies

This initiative from the Mandel Center for Studies in Jewish Education at Brandeis seeks to bridge the worlds of scholarship and pedagogy in Jewish studies at all levels, explore common questions in the teaching of Jewish Studies and conduct research into the practice of pedagogy in Jewish Studies.  The website includes conference videos, working papers, and a bibliography on pedagogy for Jewish studies teachers.
