Home and away: Jewish journeys towards independence; Key findings from the 2011 National Jewish Student Survey Featured
The National Jewish Students Survey (NJSS) provides a comprehensive portrait of Jewish student identity in England. Carried out in February and March 2011, the survey examines a wide range of issues including what and where Jewish students are studying, the nature of their Jewish beliefs and behaviors at university and at home, and the Jewish paths they have taken during their upbringing. It found that Jewish students are comfortable being openly Jewish at British universities, despite having concerns about attitudes to Israel on campus. Their commitment to Israel and the Jewish People is robust, but their appreciation of their personal social responsibility lacks muscle.

The Journal of Jewish Communal Service was established in 1902 by the National Conference of Jewish Charities, forerunner of the Jewish Communal Service Association. Engaging Jewish Teenage Boys: A Call to Action
The Jewish community is losing boys who drop out of Jewish life after bar mitzvah in unacceptably large numbers. Jewish institutions are struggling to keep teenage boys engaged. Left unaddressed, the trend threatens to undermine the Jewish future and leave a generation of boys ignorant of the wisdom, core values, community, and spiritual nourishment Judaism provides. This report draws on knowledge distilled from three years of research, focus groups with Jewish boys, and program development, and grows out of the success of Moving Traditions' work with adolescent girls. It contains seven lessons and seven principles, supported by a marketing toolkit, a program curriculum sample, appendices describing the research, and a list of resources. International Handbook of Jewish Education
The International Handbook of Jewish Education, a two volume publication, brings together scholars and practitioners engaged in the field of Jewish Education and its cognate fields world-wide. Their submissions make a significant contribution to our knowledge of the field of Jewish Education as we start the second decade of the 21st century.
