B'nai Tzedek Teen Philanthropy Program

The B’nai Tzedek Teen Philanthropy Program empowers teens to improve the world by launching them on a personal and engaged relationship to life-long Jewish giving.  This is accomplished by enabling teens to establish an endowment fund in his or her name in collaboration with their local Jewish Endowment Foundation or Federation.

The Program also educates Jewish teens about nonprofit Jewish organizations and teaches skills for an allocation process while providing them with the opportunity to network with other Jewish teens locally and nationally to share their vision.

Best Practices in Jewish Youth Philanthropy

When over 35 leaders of local Jewish teen philanthropy programs gathered together at the Jewish Teen Funders Network (JTFN) Seminar on "Best Practices in Jewish Youth Philanthropy" in June 2008, we worked to define the term "Best Practice." We determined that Best Practice isn't about something being the "best and only way," but that it is a process and product of collaboration, networking, challenging assumptions, investigation, and common voices that run throughout the field. Whether you are a seasoned professional in the field or just looking to begin your first youth philanthropy program, we hope that this information will help in your on-going visioning, program improvement, and assessment. In addition, we hope that you will contribute to its on-going development and revision.

JewPoint0

Launched in August, 2008, JewPoint0 is the blog of Darim Online, a non profit organization dedicated to helping Jewish organizations make the most of available internet technologies. We believe these tools are essential for doing the important work in our community and beyond, including community building, education, fundraising, social action and more, and JewPoint0 is an opportunity for us to share useful nuggets that surface from both our work and personal lives. It is intended to be a resource for the community to learn, be inspired, find useful models, share their work, and connect with others.

Darim believes strongly in knowledge sharing as we can all help educate and inspire each other in our work. There is no reason to reinvent the wheel, and lots of reasons to encourage experimentation, (calculated) risk taking, and sharing both what works well and not so well so ...
