The Jewish Women's Archive (JWA) is the world's leading source of information on American Jewish women. The primary resource for JESNA's Women's History Month series "31 Days of Jewish Women in Education," JWA uncovers, chronicles, and transmits the stories of Jewish women, celebrated and unheralded, from all backgrounds and in all fields, every month of the year. Founded as a "virtual archive" in 1995 just when the Internet was beginning to transform almost every aspect of life in modern America, the Jewish Women's Archive has pioneered the use of digital technology in the creation of a 21st century archive.

JWA.org offers free and open access to an authoritative online Encyclopedia of Jewish women, lesson plans and other educational materials, online exhibits on topics as diverse as "Jewish Women and the Feminist Revolution" and "Katrina's Jewish Voices," an interactive map of landmarks in Jewish women's history, a growing collection of essays about recently deceased Jewish women, a lively blog, and numerous other resources for anyone interested in the experiences of American Jewish women, past and present. JWA also invites users to contribute content to jwa.org by adding comments, queries, corrections, or suggestions.
Education is at the center of JWA's work to create an inclusive narrative of American Jewish history. In addition to providing a vital repository of information about American Jewish women's lives, JWA focuses much of its efforts on educators, developing curricula, such as the Go & Learn lesson plans and the new Living the Legacy project, that model the use of primary sources, and training educators to integrate the stories of American Jewish women into their teaching. Through community workshops and its intensive Institute for Educators, JWA offers professional development to help teachers investigate themes in Jewish women's history, examine primary source documents and oral histories, explore and use online resources, and develop strategies that bring the material to life for students in both formal and informal settings. As one educator reported recently, "No matter what subject I am teaching, I always check out JWA because I know that whatever resources I find there will be high quality, creative, and engaging." The Jewish Women's Archive believes that we owe future generations an accurate and inclusive picture of our past. By restoring the place of women in our history, JWA is laying a firm foundation on which to build a just and equitable future.
